Potted history
Grew up in Port Glasgow, went to primary school at St.Michaels,
went to St.Columbas high school for a while before deciding (at 13 yrs) to
become a priest. I then went to St.Vincents college seminary in Langbank for 2
years before moving to a higher seminary at St.Marys College, Blairs near
Aberdeen.
I left Blairs after a short while after deciding the priesthood
wasn't for me , and went back to St.Columbas High School. I left St.columbas and
joined the RAF in late 1977. I trained initially as a ground electrical
technician but on qualification was selected for further training on Radar
control systems. Most of my time in the RAF was in radar, but I did have a
couple of excursions to flying stations at RAF Laarbruch in Germany and RAF
Lossiemouth in Scotland.
I got married in 1980 to Rosemary and we had son Martin
born on Dec 22 1989.
I spent a few months down in the Falklands around 1983 ( I had 3
winters in a row without a summer).
I left the RAF in 1988 and went into the Oil industry, where I
have mostly stayed and am still working just now. Initially I was an Instrument
Technician , but quickly move up to an Instrument and Control systems Engineer.
I kind of changed careers again, still in the oil industry but became a computer
programmer writing pure code for SAP
........ to be continued...
Me - just before taking the plunge for the second time.
I
got married for the second time at Eilan Donan Castle up near Skye.
